Fatigue
Fatigue is how you are warned that something is wrong within your body. Fatigue may be health or lifestyle related. It is important to evaluate what might be causing your fatigue. Some common causes of fatigue include:
- An imbalance or impairment in the flow of nerve energy
If your body is working correctly, energy flows in a cycle from the brain to the spinal cord, and then to the tissues in the body before flowing back to the brain. This normal flow of energy can be thrown off or interrupted by an unbalanced spine causing physical and/or emotional fatigue. Dr. Witherspoon may work to realign the spine into its proper position, opening up the energy pathway to enhance the amount of energy you experience.
- Interrupted sleep, sleep apnea, or snoring
Research shows that chiropractic care may create a better, more restful sleep in children and adults. A night of interrupted sleep, sleep apnea, or snoring may lead to an exhausting day. Dr. Witherspoon’s adjustment to the lumbar, spine, skull, subluxation, and mid-thorax may alleviate these issues, helping you feel more energized and refreshed.
- Emotional stress or mental illness
Depression is both a biological and psychological disorder. Depression is often caused by an imbalance of hormones in the brain and the result is fatigue. Chiropractic care may stimulate the nervous system, allowing it to function at optimal level, thus creating balance. There may also be nutritional imbalances that prevent the body from making the right hormones, and Dr. Witherspoon is able to facilitate tests to determine if this is an issue.
Did you know…
Fatigue is a common experience. However, some people are at a higher risk for developing fatigue. The risk for women is about 1.5 times the risk for men and sedentary people are more likely to experience fatigue than those who are active. Other risk factors include obesity, smoking or use of alcohol, high stress levels, depression, anxiety, and low blood pressure. Fatigue is one of the top ten symptoms that people mention when they visit the doctor.
